New Year Resolution: Lifestyle Edition

Rise and shine, Happy New Year!

Resolutions have been made. Statistics show the most made resolutions each year are:

  • Exercise more
  • Eat healthier
  • Save money
  • Lose weight

We’ve all been down the rabbit hole of creating resolutions, hyping them up, and slowly watching them crumble as reality hits. The truth is, resolutions are great, but it’s not successful if we don’t change. Just because it’s written on paper doesn’t mean it will be accomplished. It’s within us to make the difference.

If your resolutions align with the above goals, I’ve got just the advice for you!

  • Evaluate your routine: Before starting anything, evaluate your current daily routine. Identify areas where you can make small changes to incorporate habits that align with your resolutions. For example, if you want to exercise more, consider taking a brisk walk before starting the work day to get your body moving, wake your mind up, and prioritize taking a moment for yourself.
  • Implement Rather Than Restrict: Instead of focusing on what you need to give up or restrict, shift your mindset to what you can implement and add to your life. This positive approach will help you embrace new habits and make them a sustainable part of your routine. For instance, instead of thinking about cutting out certain foods, focus on incorporating more fruits and vegetables into your meals.
  • Ask for Help Where Needed: Don’t be afraid to reach out to professionals for guidance and coaching. Whether it’s seeking advice from a personal trainer, nutritionist, financial advisor, or joining a support group, asking for help can provide you with the tools and accountability partners that you may need to stay on track.
  • Enjoy It: Find ways to make your resolutions enjoyable. If you love trying new recipes, make healthy cooking a fun and creative experience. If you enjoy being outdoors, explore different activities like hiking or biking to stay active. When you enjoy what you’re doing, it becomes easier to be more consistent.
  • Focus on Self-Improvement: Remember that resolutions are ultimately about self-improvement and personal growth. Focus on the progress you’re making rather than fixating on perfection and comparing yourself to other peoples journeys. Celebrate each milestone and be kind to yourself along the way.

With dedication and a positive mindset, you can turn your resolutions into sustainable  habits. Here’s to a successful and fulfilling year ahead!
