Nutritional Therapist Approved: Packaged Food Brands

Packaged products have been made out to be the devil in our society. Packaged products are not the best choice to make meal after meal. But, when used appropriately and purchasing packaged products that are more quality made, an individual on a health journey can use packaged products to their advantage.

As a nutritional therapist, I work with clients of all different lifestyles and one common theme remains among everyone. Convenience is necessary. I always try to recommend products that are affordable, easy to find in the grocery store, and have “better for you” ingredients. Let’s remember though, packaged foods DO NOT replace whole and fresh ingredients. Convenience should not trump consistency or the commitment toward eating a healthier diet.

I’ve compiled a list of packaged products that can become staples in your pantry. Use this list as a guide and if you should find a packaged products during your stroll at the grocery store, be sure to flip the package over and read the ingredients carefully. If you’re unsure you should buy it, you can download the app “Trash Panda” for further information regarding the product. Trash Panda allows you to scan the bar code of the product to provide you  transparency about the ingredients. Sometimes the app may tell you it’s best to not consume the product depending on the ingredients. Exercise curiosity and use your own education about whether or not the product is worth your purchase. As always, food is meant to be enjoyed. Try not to stress.
