Staten Island, NY Must Try Restaurants

Staten Island, NY, often referred to as the “Forgotten Borough,” is a unique part of New York City. Located southwest of Manhattan, its suburban neighborhood is family oriented and lively. Having grown up in Staten Island, I’ve had my fair share of eats on the island and can confirm there’s some real, home style cooked meals at many restaurants. Here’s a few to consider!

  1. Lava Restaurant and Lounge – Lava is a newer establishment in Staten Island. Its modern atmosphere invites guests of all ages for an exclusive dinner experience and fun Sunday brunch. Their menu is Spanish and Italian inspired. This unlikely fusion works incredibly well. It’s definitely a spot to explore with family and friends.
  2. Laila Restaurant and Lounge – Staten Island is overly saturated with Italian food. So, it’s nice to see a different kind of food come to our little city. Laila is a Syrian restaurant with decadent and exquisite dishes. It’s also one of the only restaurants on Staten Island thats BYOB!
  3. Sandwich and Pickle – Sandwich and Pickle is definitely a favorite on the island. Upon walking in, it’s as if you stepped into your grandmothers living room. The dishes are influenced by American & Eastern-European cuisines offering an all day menu featuring smoked meats, brisket, corned beef and pastrami sandwiches, bagels, pierogies, fried pickles, brunch dishes and other appetizing fare in a vintage-style atmosphere.
  4. Taste of India II – Taste of India has been serving Staten Island families for over three decades. The quality of their food and service remains outstanding. Their Indian cuisine is authentic which has named them the #1 Indian restaurant on Staten Island.
